A new company that sells fresh flowers to the elderly will launch next week in Florida
Daley Fresh Flowers, Inc., a new flower delivery service that will deliver flowers to people over 65, announced Monday that it had filed paperwork to open its first Florida office in Gainesville.
Daley is a spinoff of Flowerspring, a company that launched in 2014.
“We have made it clear that our goal is to deliver to seniors as often as possible, regardless of their ability to walk, talk, or interact,” the company said in a statement.
“It is our belief that by focusing on the needs of the elderly, Flowerspring will help to accelerate the healing process of this illness and provide a way for our customers to get flowers they’ve always wanted.”
Daley has raised $4.5 million from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, New Enterprise Associates, and SV Angel, which gave the company $4 million in the first quarter of 2018.
It is unclear how much of the funds will go toward providing the flowers to seniors, and whether the company will be able to afford the delivery services.
“With the growth of the millennial generation, we expect that millennials will seek out services that meet their needs, not only for their own health but also for their future,” Flowerspring founder and CEO Michael Fuhrman told The Associated Press in a phone interview.
The company, which has two offices in Florida, announced plans to expand its service to Orlando and Gainesville later this year.
The new company will deliver to customers across the state, Fuhrumans said.
“The focus is on delivering flowers to older people and seniors who are less likely to be able or willing to walk,” he said.
Flowerspring has been selling flowers for seniors since 2013, when the company began offering them for a monthly fee.
The flowers are delivered to a location and are filled with dried flowers.
Customers can choose from two varieties of flowers, which include black or pink, or white or purple.
The floral delivery service also offers online orders, which are usually free, and in-person appointments, where flowers are arranged by appointment.
Flowersprings is available in Florida through its online store and through its Orange County, Fla., office.
Flowers is a subsidiary of The Daley Group, a family-owned flower and fragrance company, that was spun off from Daley in 2016.
The firm was founded in 1885 and has offices in San Diego, California, and Orlando, Florida.
Flowers and Daley have a long history of growing flowers, and the flowersprings website describes its offerings as a “careful blend of flowers from local nurseries and local growers.”
Flowerspring is based in Orange County.
The Florida office will be the company’s first Florida operation, according to Flowerspring.
“Daley Fresh Flower Delivery is an opportunity for us to expand our offerings in the Sunshine State, which is a great opportunity for Floridians who are looking for an affordable, fun and easy way to get their flowers,” Fuhrichman said in the statement.
