People are being asked to post a picture of themselves in front of flowers in an attempt to make them more attractive to the world and gain more social capital, according to a report.
The UK’s National Gallery of Victoria, which is an art institution that uses a website to make images available to the public, has seen an increase in the number of flowers posted on its website in recent years, according the Victoria Post.
“The idea of using the internet to attract attention is a new idea in the world of photography,” said museum director, Peter McNeill.
“It’s not like people are looking for the perfect flower to post.
They are looking to get a few good ones, to share their love of flowers with others.”
The gallery said the increase in posts on the website was linked to a change in policy that makes images available for free online.
“In order to comply with the law, we have to allow people to use the website for free.
That means we are going to have to make sure that they have a link back to the gallery website,” Mr McNeill said.
“We want to make it very clear that the website is not for sale or rental.”
The Victoria Post has been making new flowers available for sale for free since January and says it is hoping to double its number of free flower listings.
“We have seen a significant increase in requests for free flower pictures on our website since February,” Mr MacNeill said.
“Our aim is to make the pictures available for people to buy for free.”
